With it's glittering nests of jewels, towers of rainbow-hued macaroons, piles of cashmere and luxury leather goods, the Burlington Arcade is abundant in glamour. The red carpeted walkway, soft globe lights and wooden panelled shop fronts make shopping here a genteel experience. Burlington Arcade has been a curator of London style since 1819 and standards have not slipped. This has much to do with the eagle-eyed Beadles who guard the entrances, decked out in their finest livery. Everyone who enters seems to leave a few shades smarter, especially if a visit has been paid to Burlington Arcade’s resident shoe-shine boy.

I can't resist window shopping whenever I'm in the area. It feels like a time warp to another era.Rachel, teacher
The arcade is ostentatious and intimate, an old fashioned experience.Kelt, Account Manager
