Parque 93 is one of the most stunning neighbourhoods in all of Bogotá. At its centre is its namesake park — a respite from the city with its temporary art exhibits, Sabana rubber and palm trees, a water feature, and of course the striking views of mountains in the background. But the park isn’t the only thing on offer.
Located just north of the Zona Rosa ‘hood, in the northern part of Chapinero, Parque 93 is an area full of culture and culinary delights. Expect those that lean towards the high end of the dining spectrum, as well as some cool newbies. And then there are the cafés that do not disappoint.
Here are our favourites.
Amor Perfecto
This was one of the first places in Bogotá to serve specialty coffee, but Amor Perfecto is more than just a coffee shop. The company has trained many of Colombia’s best baristas; as they pour each brew, they explain the story behind every bean. Roasted in-house, naturally.
Bombay Lounge
One block from the park, you’ll find Bombay Lounge. This favoured spot serves Indian vegetarian fare — an anomaly in such a carnivorous country — in a vibrant Eastern-inspired setting.
Azahar Café 93
Described by one Appear Here team member as ‘the best coffee shop in the world,’ Azahar is a must-visit when in this part of the city. Expect some of the best brews in Bogotá, and to feel like part of a community of digital nomads and locals alike. The plant-filled, glassed-in interior and its very own small-plot beans, further illustrate the warm, welcoming vibes.
Gaira Café
Owned and run by the Grammy Award-winning singer Carlos Vives’ family, Gaira Café is all about the cuisine and music of Colombia. The quaint space is decorated with music paraphernalia, and they recently added an auditorium for concerts — where Vives sometimes performs.
The Pot Asian
Plant-based eaters should head to The Pot Asian. This 100% vegan eatery offers make-your-own bowls which are super fresh and filling. The low-key spot is perfect for lunch while you explore the neighbourhood.
Orso Heladeria
Orso Heladería mixes Colombian ingredients and Italian tradition in order to create an experience that goes far beyond traditional ice cream. With cute little stores and creative servings, this place is a must in Bogotá city.
Galeria Café Libro
For over forty years, this space has held everything from comedy shows to salsa performances. While also serving up food and drinks to accompany the entertainment. You never know what kind of night they have in store, so check the website for details, however, there is always fun to be had.
Galeria La Cometa
In order to contribute to the development of the local art scene, Esteban Jaramillo Flórez created Galería La Cometa over thirty years ago. Since then, the space has been focused on the representation, promotion and dissemination of Colombian and Latin American artists. Expect an introduction to Colombian contemporary art.
