3 août 2022

Cape Town’s strong arts and culture scene, variety of food, historical attractions and easy-going lifestyle, all contribute to its charm. But it’s The Atlantic Seaboard area that’s caught our attention.

The Atlantic Seaboard, Cape Town

Stretching from the V&A Waterfront all the way to Hout Bay, this area features some of the many world-class destinations from Llandudno, Camps Bay, Clifton, Sea Point, the Waterfront and many, many more. Every city street offers restaurants, bars and venues of all kinds, offering new and unique experiences, whether local or foreign.

Here are our favourite spots:

Zeitz MOCAA
Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA) is a public, not-for-profit institution that exhibits, collects, and preserves contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora. Expect to leave intrigued and inspired.

Kleinsky's
Brothers Adam and Joel Klein, opened Kleinsky's in 2014. The space prides itself on bringing a slice of New York to Cape Town — blending traditional Jewish recipes with the best local ingredients. The Kleinsky's family also love to serve the local artistic community, and offer up their cafe as a gallery.

The Oranjezicht City Farm Market
Despite its name, this farmers’ market is actually located in Granger Bay at the V&A Waterfront, and runs every Saturday and Sunday morning. While you’ll likely come for fresh produce — which you’ll find in abundance — the market also boasts stunning sea views. We recommend doing your weekly shop here.

The Piano Bar
If looking for somewhere to while away an evening, sipping sumptuous cocktails, head to the Piano Bar. The New York-inspired music revue and eatery serves up modern tapas dishes on a wraparound terrace — the view of De Waterkant village through to Table Mountain’s Devil’s Peak is not to be overlooked.

The Strangers Club
This leafy, semi-outdoor bungalow, hidden on a side street in Green Point, gives off an elevated yoga retreat vibe, which is why you’ll find international model/surfer types stopping by for their smoothie bowls or salads. If health-conscious food is your thing, this is the spot for you. The intimate space also plays host to a selection of local fashion and furniture independents.

The Lawns
Stunning views and yummy low-key food make this spot a local favourite. Nestled between Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, The Lawns looks out over the big blue, and its menu features everything from delicious breakfasts and decadent brunches to lingering lunches.
