From hidden-gems to places to people-watch, from bookshops to beauty spots – here is some inspiration, celebrating the independents in our local neighborhoods around the world.
This week’s selection has been curated by Clio Peppiatt, the 28-year-old, London-based designer taking the fashion world by storm.
Clio Peppiatt launched her eponymous label in 2015. In just a few years, the brand has become internationally recognized for its reinvention of traditional craftsmanship and playful, subversive femininity.
Born in Paris, Clio Peppiatt grew up in a home surrounded by art and artists. Since the launch of her label, her unusual designs have attracted the attention of fashionistas such as Adwoa Aboah, Lady Gaga, Kendal Jenner, and Miley Cyrus.
FOR FOOD
“I live in West London and Books for Cooks has been around as long as I can remember. It’s part recipe book shop, part restaurant with a set lunch menu cooked daily for a maximum of 25 people. It’s a very local spot that not many people know about – they use local ingredients and you never eat the same dish twice!”
FOR PEOPLE-WATCHING
“Sitting outside a Parisian cafe ideally – especially around Fashion Week.”
FAVORITE BOOKSHOP
“I love visiting the V&A bookshop and also their library. Walking through Hyde Park and then spending the afternoon there gathering inspiration is one of my favorite ways to spend the day.”
FOR WELLNESS
“AIRE spa in Covent Garden is really magical. I love how ancient and romantic the setting is.”
FOR SHOPPING
“I love shopping in New York, especially the thrift shops where you can find something really special and unique.”
